God loves a cheerful giver

Dear Omaha community members,

Young Catholic Professionals Omaha is a chapter of a nationwide group of young adults in their 20s and 30s that are in the workforce. This group provides new opportunities for networking and spiritual growth. My wife and I joined YCP last summer and have found the relationships have been a blessing to us by helping us connect in the community and feel a part of something bigger, a Catholic identity where we work to witness for Christ in the world.

This is the goal of YCP: to connect working young adults in the community; to give them an accountability group, spiritual growth and networking opportunities that are all faith-based.

YCP offers monthly reflections from successful Catholic professionals in the Omaha community. These speakers allow us to see the potential for our lives as young Catholic professionals. Our world is busier and more complicated than ever with social media, 24/7 news and the growth of relativism. YCP brings a solid foundation for young professionals to fall back on when they feel they are surrounded by a culture that resists Catholic beliefs.

YCP is run by young professionals in the Omaha community who volunteer many hours to help others grow spiritually and professionally in the workplace. However, any group needs money to develop and grow.

As a husband and a father of two (three by summer), my wife and I know the importance of giving financially and also understand that our money and assets are not ours in the end. God has blessed us with all that we have and we know that is our responsibility to give back and support the Church that has helped us become who we are today.

God blessed us as stewards of this world. We are to take care of the land, the animals and each other through evangelization in order to help each other grow closer to Him who has blessed us abundantly. Any financial donations to YCP Omaha are directly supporting a local Catholic organization that is reaching out to your sisters, brothers, children, nieces, nephews and grandchildren. We want to be a force for change and with your help, we can do that.

We consider any gift of yours as an investment into the future of the Catholic Church.  We will do all that we can to make sure your investment creates continued growth in YCP’s service to the Catholic Church.

A quote that rings true from Archbishop Fulton Sheen, “Never measure your generosity by what you give, but rather what you have left.” It is important to remember that any donation is not just a gift, it is something that will have a great impact on the future of the Catholic Church and you will be able to say that you helped grow YCP. You will have left something behind that grows into something more. And this applies to all ages. There is no later: what are you doing today to have something left behind tomorrow? “Be on the alert then, for you do not know the day nor the hour” – Matthew 25:13.

So, as Director of Finance with YCP Omaha, I am asking you to prayerfully consider if God is calling you to give back your money to His Church through our growing organization. No amount is too small or too big. Anything can help us bring young adults together in communion with each other and God.

“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” - 2 Corinthians 9:7.

On behalf of Young Catholic Professionals Omaha, we thank you for considering us an organization to support and may God bless you and your family,

Steven LaFleur
